“Those Wasted Years” music video by Glasgow Kiss
Those Wasted Years music video is a Performance Video filmed at USF Verftet in a room called Black Box. It’s a mystical and dark atmosphere in the video, the perfomance is energetic and powerful and the clouds of smoke sets the lightning in to life and reflects the emotions behind the song. While the lyrics of “Those Wasted Years” are a sketch of regret, the driving guitar sound is a savage groove built to showcase Charlotte Marlen Midtun’s amazing range. She takes us with her deep into the dark just to show us the best way to rise from the ashes.
Concept and Inspiration behind “Those Wasted Years”
“We decided to film a music video for this track because we wanted to give the song a life beyond just the sound. Music is powerful on its own, but sometimes the emotions and stories we write about deserve to be seen as well as heard. The video lets us share the atmosphere, the energy, and the message in a way that words and melodies alone can’t always capture.” – Charlotte
Filming & Production of “Those Wasted Years”
“One of the biggest challenges in filming this video was translating the emotion of the song into visuals that felt real. It’s one thing to play the track in a studio or on stage, but capturing that same raw energy on camera took a lot of work. Every shot had to reflect the atmosphere of the music, and that meant pushing ourselves out of our comfort zone. The most memorable moment from filming the video were when the fire alarm went off due to the smoke machine.” – Charlotte
Symbolic Elements within “Those Wasted Years” music video
“When it came to lighting and colors, we were very intentional. The song has a certain mood and emotional weight, and we wanted the visuals to amplify that. Instead of just filming performance shots under bright lights, we chose a palette that mirrors the feelings in the track. For the darker and more intense parts of the song, we leaned into shadowy, low-key lighting to create tension and intimacy. It gave the impression of being pulled into the raw emotion of the lyrics. When the music opened up—whether with hope, energy, or release—we shifted toward warmer tones and brighter contrasts, symbolizing light breaking through.” – Charlotte
Personal Connection between “Those Wasted Years” music video & the song
“At the end of the day, filming this video was about creativity and expression. Making music isn’t just about recording songs—it’s about telling stories. This video is our way of extending the story of the track and giving it the space it deserves.” – Charlotte
Future Plans after “Those Wasted Years” music video
“Yes, we will release three other music-videos as well, the visual style of those are different and side stories are included in addition to the perfomance part on some of them. We would like to be more experiential and creative in the future and maybe include some actors and work with a production crew.” – Charlotte
